Bulk Import Products
If you have many products to add — a full menu, a retail catalog, or stock from another system — bulk import lets you enter them all in a spreadsheet-style grid and import everything at once. No need to create products one by one.
1. When to use bulk import
Bulk import is most useful when you're launching a new store with an existing catalog, switching to YellowPOS from another system, or adding a large number of seasonal products at once. If you only need to add a few products, the regular product form is faster. But for 10 or more products, the bulk grid saves significant time.
2. Opening the bulk import grid
Go to Products in the dashboard and look for the Bulk Import button in the top actions. This opens the grid — a table that works like a spreadsheet where each row is one product.

3. The grid columns
Each row represents one product. The required fields are marked with an asterisk:
- Name * — the product name as it will appear in your store and POS.
- Categories * — assign the product to one or more categories. Type to search; categories must already exist in your catalog.
- Type — Physical (default), Digital, or Service. Affects how the product is handled at checkout and delivery.
- Qty — starting stock count. Leave blank to skip stock tracking for that product.
- Cost — your cost price, used for profit margin reports. Not shown to customers.
- Price * — the selling price in your base currency (USD or LBP, depending on your store settings).
- Compare Price — the original price before a sale or discount. When set, it shows as a strikethrough next to the current price on your store.
- Public — toggle on to make the product visible in your online store. Toggle off to hide it from customers while keeping it in your catalog.
4. Keyboard shortcuts
The grid is designed for fast data entry without the mouse:
- Enter — moves to the same column in the next row (like moving down a spreadsheet column).
- Tab — moves to the next column in the same row (like tabbing across a form).
Use Tab to fill in a row left to right, then Enter to jump to the next product. With practice, you can enter a full catalog quickly without touching the mouse.
5. Adding images and variants
Each row has an expand arrow on the left side. Click it to open the extended row for that product. Inside you can upload a product image and add variants (like size or color options with individual prices and stock levels). You don't have to expand every row — only do it for products that need images or variants.
6. Saving a draft
Your grid is auto-saved as you type. If you need to stop and come back later, click Save Draft to make sure your progress is preserved. The autosave label in the toolbar shows whether the current state is saved. When you return to the bulk import page, your draft loads automatically.
7. Importing all products
When you're done filling in the grid, click Import All. A progress bar appears showing how many products have been imported. Products are processed one by one — you can watch the count go up. Once the import finishes, all products appear in your catalog. Note that newly imported products may take a minute or two to appear in your public store after import.
If a row has an error (for example, a missing required field), that row will be skipped and flagged so you can fix it and retry.
8. After importing
After a successful import, go to Products to review your new items. You can edit individual products to add more details — descriptions, secondary images, barcode, or LBP pricing — that aren't available in the bulk grid. The bulk import gives you a fast starting point; the product editor lets you refine each item afterward.
