Product Features
Beyond a name and price, YellowPOS products support variants, multiple images, barcodes, feature badges, ingredient recipes, and more. This guide covers every product field and when to use it.
Product types
When creating a product you pick one of three types — and you can't change it after saving, so choose carefully:
- Physical (default) — a tangible item that may have stock and gets shipped or handed over in person.
- Service — a non-physical offering like a consultation, repair, or lesson. No shipping, no stock depletion. Cost is optional.
- Digital — a downloadable file (PDF, photo, music, template) or a serial key that the customer receives automatically after purchase. Upload the file or paste an external link, or enter a list of serial codes for the system to deliver one per order.
Variants (sizes, options)
Variants let one product come in multiple options — size, colour, material, or any other dimension. Add each variant with a name and an optional price adjustment (positive or negative relative to the base price). At checkout, customers see the variant choices and the price updates automatically. You don't need separate products for each option. There is no limit to the number of variants per product.
Images
Every product has a main image — the primary photo shown on your store, menu, and in the cart. Upload any PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WEBP file; the system auto-crops it to 800×800 for a consistent look. You can also add secondary images to create a photo gallery — useful for clothing, furniture, or any product worth showing from multiple angles. Drag the thumbnail order to control which photo appears first in the gallery.
Barcodes
Add one or more barcodes to a product for scanning at the POS. Enter the barcode number, preview it with the scan icon, and print it with the print icon. Barcodes are Code 128 format. A product can have multiple barcodes (e.g. if the same item comes in several package sizes each with its own barcode). Scanning a barcode at the POS adds the matching product to the cart instantly.
Feature tags
Feature tags are short text badges that appear on your product page — things like "Gluten-Free", "Spicy", "New Arrival", or "Best Seller". They're purely informational and help customers quickly understand what makes a product notable. Add as many as you need; they'll be shown as chips under the product name on your store or menu.
Recipes (ingredient linking)
If your business tracks raw materials as ingredients, you can attach a recipe to a product. A recipe is a list of ingredients and the quantity of each required to make one unit of that product. This lets you see exactly what goes into each product and calculate your input cost, so you can price with confidence. The recipe section appears on the product edit page once you have ingredients in your account.
Stock and cost
Set a quantity to track how many units you have in stock. For physical products, the POS can deduct stock on each sale so you always know what's left. Set a cost (what you paid to acquire or produce the item) to understand your margins. Cost is not shown to customers — it's for your internal reporting only. If quantity is left blank or set to 0, the product shows as "Out of stock" on your store.
Visibility and pricing
Toggle a product public or private — private products are hidden from your online store and QR menu but are still available for manual POS entry. Set prices in USD, LBP, or both. Your Personalisation settings control which currency customers see; having both lets you serve USD and LBP customers from the same catalog without duplicating products.
